Dr. Kim Anderson is a scammer:
Affiliated Emergency Vet is a scam. I brought my dog in at 9pm on Friday. My dog had a mouth injury. (She chewed on a stick or pinecone and cut up the inside of her mouth). The vet, Dr. Kim Anderson tried to convince me that it was her neck or back that was bothering her. She said she only yelped when her neck was up and that she must have tweaked her neck and back. She said it definitely wasn’t her mouth, because she yawned (behind me where I couldn’t see) and that she needed x-rays. She said they would have to put her to sleep, and that she would look in her mouth, but she was sure it was her neck. I told her she could only take x-rays IF she found nothing in her mouth, as I wasn’t convinced her neck was the problem. I was given an estimate of $293-$572 (without/with x-rays). Shortly after they took her back, Dr. Kim Anderson came back into the room with pictures on her phone of the inside of my dog’s mouth. Clearly she had a scrape/small puncture from a stick or something similar. Dr. Kim Anderson then left the room. She came back with x-rays of my dog. She told me she HAD to take them to make sure it wasn’t a tumor or an abscess that was draining. I disagreed, I had only authorized if nothing was in her mouth, and she wanted to take them because she thought it was her neck/back not a tumor to start with. She then sent the x-ray technician in who yelled at me and pounded her fist into her hand repeated telling me that the x-rays were necessary to make sure it wasn’t a tumor. She was very intimidating; I did not get her name. Then I was slapped with a $700 bill. It was now midnight. The Dr. Kim Anderson prescribed three medications. One was tramadol, which was completely unnecessary. Tramadol is a powerful narcotic that should only be prescribed for severe pain. (I didn’t know this until I got home and was able to Google it.) After lots of back and forth with Dr. Kim Anderson she had me in tears, telling me if I didn’t understand I should of asked questions, and that prescriptions weren’t in the estimate and blamed the entire situation on me. Bottom line, I was scammed. Dr. Kim Anderson took a scared pet parent and manipulated them into believing something was wrong with her dog, and did unnecessary tests (x-rays) and prescribed unnecessary medications (tramadol) to make a profit. I feel completely taken advantage of by someone who is supposed to be helping you in a time of need. Instead they see patients and profit, and scam and intimidate people into paying for their greed. Do not take your pet here. Do not allow Dr. Kim Anderson to treat your pet. Clearly my dog had a mouth injury, and she convinced herself it was a neck/back thing because all she sees is dollar signs, not dogs.
