Subcontractor Died On Way Home from My Job:
Original Father-in-law/Son-in-law Subcontractors worked quite slowly, only showing up a couple days a week for the first month of a two-week project, and left my Breezeway "roofless" for over 8-weeks, after convincing me to accept sub-par clear plastic sheeting, rather than the translucent Lexan, originally contracted for in the skylight repair contract. The substituted materials have leaked consistently, and sustained some cracking in a slight hail storm immediately following projects completion. (Lexan is bulletproof)
A projected 2-week project ended up taking 3-months+ with the Father-in-law, (primary sub-contractor) collapsing and dying of a heart attack on the way home, a month into the project. Son-in-law who was obviously learning on the job from his more experienced, 'old man', took 3-weeks off for mourning, estate settlement, and new grandchild care arrangements, never really fixing things right in the remaining two-months of the project.. Extensive warranty repairs, amounting to a complete redo of the whole leaky roof project are still being negotiated, almost a year later.
