Anchor & hope is housed in a renovated turn of the century mechanic's warehouse located at 83 Minna street . A little east coast formal ( a GM in a suit and a chef who likes her vegetables brunoised) and West Coast casual (painted plywood floors, hawsers strung from the ceiling and diners in jeans) and you've got Anchor & hope's cross-country take on a seafood shack.

Just as their flagship restaurant Town Hall riffs on the American South, the Rosenthal brothers' Anchor & Hope similarly reinterprets a well-loved motif --- the fish-house --- and this time takes it on a trot around the world, touching down in Scandinavia, New England, Southeast Asia and Spain for starters. Braced by a spicy yet unnecessary sambal, chewy shrimp fritters recall Japanese octopus...

From the outside, it's hard to distinguish this restaurant's gray brick façade from the construction sites and office buildings that line Minna Street. But inside the turn-of-the-century...

Anchor & Hope is a West Coast Fish House located in a renovated turn of the century artist’s warehouse. Each day, they feature a broad selection of oysters, shellfish & local fish and serve 16 different beers on tap, another 75 bottled that marry well with fish and seafood.
