Nightmare:
I took a couple of moments to read these other reviews and am pretty shocked. Then again, anyone can make up an alias and write a good review about his/her own company, so I take that under consideration. Either the reviews are made up, or thse people got his only other crew. This is in reference to an incident in August 2009. Unfortunately, we had a truck break down on us the weekend of our move and uhauls were not available (it was a Sat), thus had to rely on movers/yellow pages to find someone quickly to move our belongings. Otherwise, as a rule of thumb I would have used a referral vs cold calling out of the phone book. Anyway, I stressed to the owner, Bill, that I really needed movers who were very careful as there were a few items of mine that were expensive and/or paticularly meaningful. He of course assured me they were careful. Once the 3 movers showed up, we again, more than once, pointed out the items we wanted them to be very careful with. They nicked and scratched almost every side of my baby boy's honey oak crib. We're new parents, so it was actually pretty sad for us to see this. We were angry, but simply more sad than anything else about this item. It took me 3 months to find someone who still had the crib in stock because the company no longer exists, so it isn't exactly replaceable. We own a wooden bed that was around 2k (a Bernhardt bed) that we had saved up for over several months (less than a year old). They nicked and scratched the wood on this as well, and tore our mattress. We had to sign insurance paperwork prior to them moving our items. The choices were pretty pathetic, leaving the customer on the losing end. We did not opt for extra insurance because it came with a $500 deductible. When we expressed our concerns to the crew leader, he later went out into our driveway,in our new neighborhood (very professional) cussing and yelling at the other guys for "f'ing" the crib up, then coming back in and telling his boss there was very little damage and laughing at my husband when my husband was explaining the damage to the owner, Bill. I wrote on the contract that the damage must be assessed and compensated that week and had the crew leader initial before giving payment. The owner comes out today and says that the guys offered to take the crib apart before taking it down the stairs, but my husband refused. Seriously? This is our first child---our precious baby boy's crib and we refused to let them take it apart. Give me a break! I can't stand liars. My husband took it apart piece by piece on his own because they were tearing it up and we had to put a stop to it before they made it any worse. Never, not once did any of the guys offer to take our furniture apart. Bill actually had the nerve to say I could go to Wal mart and replace my crib, passing it off like it was no big deal. Wal Mart sells some good stuff, but doesn't sell my baby's crib. No compassion, no empathy, and most importantly, no apologies from anyone, including the owner. Bill said that the insurance might give us $200 and then we would have to give our baby's crib and 2k bed to the moving company that destroyed it. Again, seriously? Completely unprofessional. He refused to provide us with any compensation, saying it was our word against his "upstanding" guys. On top of all that, the paperwork says we should check the truck before it leaves to make sure we got all our stuff. My husband did just that and the guy that did the most damage to our stuff told him "Ain't no one trying to steal your stuff, man." A little racist perhaps? It was ridiculous. What a nightmare! Please avoid putting your property in the hands of this company. All I can do is warn you with this review. I may or may not pursue it further. Intrestingly, I do have date stamped pictures of my baby boy in the crib the day before the move which clearly indicates no big scratches or dents. Therefore, I could take it further, but my main concern is that this doesn't happen to others.
