unfortunitly i went to SMITTY'S MUFFLER to have them to fix a code from DEQ, and had my mass air flow sensor ,catylitic converter and muffler replaced. 3 months later costless said the cat code was coming up,so when i told smittys they said those guys dont know there azz from a hole in the ground, so i took it back too smittys muffler and the charged me for another diagnostic and said they fixed a vacume leek,, all the time ignoring the fact i said the same code from deq was popping up again, so within a year from that i got another code so i had Top Performance Auto change my oil and check the code and it still showed the same as the deq code so i called smittys and said the code is still there, he asked me what year my truck was , 96 i said , he said oh yea 95 and newer is supposed to have a heavyer metal cat for those years and i set an appointment to have it replaced the nexy day. When i showed the reciet they said "oh yea the warenty wont cover if it is melted"when they opened it it was melted so i said if you would have put the right one in the first place we wouldnt be having this conservation,he said the truck must have another problem to have burned it up, i said show me the code for the problem that caused it to burn up, of course he couldn't cause there was none. so after arguing the point that if he would have put the right 1 in the first place, he told his employee to put the burnt 1 back and send him down the road.i got home and phoned many shops to see what could burn up a catylitic converter and was told a few things and that with a newer vehical like mine the diagnostic would have showed a code for the problems, and of course no codes show except for the cat code. Now if i was them i probably would have just fixed it and said sorry for the mistake, but they chose not to be professional.deq requires your liscense # and vin # on the reciept for a pass if still failling and of course they only put the plate # and never once in the 2 trips put what codes popped up on the diognastics either time so in my recomendation i would have 2 say if you like being ripped off than smitty is the 1 2 go 2,thats my opinion.
