Asked for fuse check as I checked the one manual said (#17) and it was fine, they thought it was "another fuse above the main panel", $191.81 later NO fix, other than they got open passenger window closed by applying direct voltage to motor. Should have been nervous when they kept calling a "friend" about my car and someones AUDI (dashboard replaced and car wouldn't run right). After almost four hours aid it was a controller that was about about $340.00, told them to order. Found my extra fuses from my glove box scattered all over front and back seats, even a couple under the hood. Repeated calls about controller, "controller not in yet". Told them it also appreared the seat heaters weren't working either, they had no ideas. Gave up and figured wait until bad weather over. Called again in early Spring, no success. Totally gave up on them, been busy. Have wife's 2000 Jetta VR6 in another local German speciallty shop who is treating us great, expect it back this coming week.With today's unbelievable weather and no other really pressing honey-do's decided to see if I could find "the blown fuse above the main fuse box". Pulled some documentation off the internet. Carefully removed the main fuse box cover panel, 5 screws out and carefully removed lower dash panel in front of the main fuse box and found Autoworks broke many main fuse box add on connects and just crammed the connections up above the main fuse box. I carefully checked all the "extra" fuses. Nothing burned out - decided to do the un-informed mechanic thing and started checking all fuses from left to right. At #14 found a blown fuse. I replaced #14 - golly all 4 windows and seat heaters work. Carefully put everything back together.Two major lessons learned - internet searches for VW Cabriolet and VW Cabrio give different results - Cabriolet is the early versions - Cabrio the more recent ones (1995-2001). Too bad I didn't know that in December. Justanswer.com had the right fuse identified on 2/15/09, the person paid $15 to get the answer not $191.81 and no fix. Second major lesson learned - DO NOT TRUST AUTOWORKS on Shaffer Parkway, Littleton CO in Southewest Jeffco!!
