One of Alexandria’s most beloved restaurants relocated away from the waterfront and opened in the middle of Old Town. Its setting is just as classy with a sleek, modern décor, a wood-framed bar near the entrance and a garden-like outdoor patio.
Located inside spacious, wood-accented quarters in an Old Town apartment building and encompassing two dining rooms, Bar Bastille, an all-day cafe and a courtyard patio, exudes the charm of a contemporary brasserie. The seasonal menu features updated Gallic classics and dishes with North African and Middle Eastern flavors.

Bastille is situated in a very obscure location in an unfrequented section of Alexandria’s Old Town. Nevertheless, it has potential charm. Lunch options include the salade niçoise, an obvious choice for a French restaurant, but we find the portion skimpy.
