Warning they will rip you off:
Watch out for this company. They will try to sell you a new heating unit for $5000 to $6000 when you don't need one. When I moved into my house my heater worked for a few hours then would not come on again. We called Bear Valley and they sent out a Tech. The Tech had no clue of what he was doing. He ripped the wiring out of my 5 year old unit then told me I needed a new unit. He also said he was condemning the unit and it was unsafe to stay in the house until a new unit was installed. I contacted the seller and told him the house needed a new heater. The seller (who buys and sells several houses a month in Big Bear) informed me about Bear Valley's rip off practices and how he has been told the same thing on other houses he sold. A 2nd Tech. (Scotties Heating and Plumbing) came out and within minutes (after putting back all the ripped out wiring) had my heater back on and running. It turned out a plastic part for condensation had frozen and just needed to be thawed out. No parts were replaced. I have since spoken to several people and they all tell me the same thing. Bear Valley Heating and Plumbing has a reputation for coming to your house and ripping out all the wiring then they tell you that you need a new unit.

It is sad to see a company treat its neighbors like this. In a small town like Big Bear you would think you would not have to worry about this. There are several other companies out there so I would recommend before you go with Bear Valley you ask your friends and neighbors who they would recommend. I am new to the area and thought because I saw their trucks all over town they must be a good company. I now know better.

I was charged a service fee for them to come out and rip out the wiring on my unit and then tell me I need a new unit when there was nothing wrong. I will be asking for a refund of my service fee.
