I was given an estimate of $170.58 to replace an oxygen sensor ($83.75+tax for the sensor and $80.55 for labor). I bought a 12 month warrantied vehicle specific sensor for $29.95+tax and it took me less than 15 minutes to install it. Blue Ribbon told me their cost was $33 for the sensor (I think they're buying their parts from the wrong place) and that they are justified in marking it up. Furthermore, their labor estimating program listed .9 hours for labor. It's only my opinion, but marking up a part 250% and grossly exaggerating the labor appears unethical to me. Their labor program must be geared towards technicians who have difficulty operating a vacuum cleaner. To Blue Ribbon's credit, they aren't doing anything illegal. Their work is fine if you don't mind paying the maximum and then some. Vote with your dollars and take your business elsewhere.
