Breezeway Restaurant on the right track:
If your in or visiting Sanford FL you are in for a treat while looking for a great restaurant to relax and enjoy a quality meal that provides the service and value of a fine dining experience.
I found such the experience at the Breezeway Restaurant and Bar. The fare is limited compared to restaurants I have ventured into throughout the USA and several other countries but this is attributed to the sole focus of providing fresh foods to your table in a reasonable service time.
If your looking or thinking “ I need my food fast” then go to McDonalds. GOOD FRESH FOOD TAKES TIME TO PREPARE !!
I will limit my review on the inside dining area but will say the majority of the customer dined outside for a more causal atmosphere and the music.
As I mentioned for sheer relaxation and quiet dining the inside was my place to be. Although the inside dining is of smaller confines it was not over-crowded with tables and had modest decor and minium table setting to not over bare the patron.
I did start my dining with the a fresh house salad with the housemade blue cheese dressing. The salad contained a variety of lettuce with cucumber and a nice tasting tomato for this early season.
The blue cheese dressing was closer to the creamy side although my preference is a medium based dressing of that nature.
I did have my sights set for trying the blackened red snapper but since fresh fish is the key to their service I settled for the available entree called “The Johnny Fish” a blackened grouper topped with Swiss cheese and accented with their housemade marinara sauce.
Very good taste and flavor but I feel a bit more tang to the sauce would have set the seafood dish out from among its peers. The grouper had a nice texture and no fishy taste but actual flavor of the dish.
The bread basket with the meal was of a non inducing quality but fit with the dish as prepared. It was stated as housemade and topped with Parmesan cheese with a hint of garlic. I must admit I enjoy my bread soft and hot.
A side of twice baked potato was requested with the entree and other than adding a bit of salt was hot and tasty as ordered.
A real joy and pleasant delight was sitting with the owner Rick and his wife Debbie talking about how the business has progressed and evolved over the short period of time, the building itself in style and heritage and the general business of running a fine restaurant.
As we all know ... food is a matter of taste -- and having tasted food in all of but two states in the USA and 9 different counties I must say... Breezeway Restaurant and Bar will get my recommendation and continued patronage.
