Try one of the best café con leches north of Miami along with traditional Cuban homestyle cooking. Chef Martin Cisenero’s menu offers savory mofongo, plentiful paella, ropa vieja and more in an informal setting.
Cafe Con Leche Restaurant Review:
Upper West Siders love this charming, sunny Latin American café for its generous portions of authentic Cuban and Dominican fare as well as its reasonable prices. The varied menu includes empanadas and rice with Spanish sausage as well as a Cuban sandwich made with roast pork, ham, cheese and pickles, and heated in a press. Also located at 726 Amsterdam Ave., 212-678-7000.
No longer special, but still a decent enough Cuban spot. Somewhat refined takes on the traditional. Roast pork, oxtail, bacalao. Can't go wrong with shrimp in red, green, or garlic sauce. Namesake coffee a good morning jump-starter. Upbeat scene behind the jaunty yellow windows admirably balances nabe's Latino and yuppie demographics.
