****EXTREME CAUTION**** PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST!!**** SAVE YOURSELF FROM THE ABSOLUTLY DISGUSTING & REVOLTING SO-CALLED "SERVICE" THAT CAMELOT of 1550 Recreation Dr. Springfield, IL 62711-9469 PROVIDES!!!
I was recently a Guest at a wedding reception held at this poor excuse for any-kind of an establishment. I was absolutely appalled at the entire experience. I personally have worked all kinds of catering events and I have NEVER seen anything more pathetic and I would NEVER want to do ANY KIND OF BUSINESS with Camelot!! Please spare yourself the pure hassle and agony!!
First and foremost, the people that “run the show” there are totally unprofessional and couldn’t even manage themselves out of a phone booth, not to mention the lack-there-of-employee service…
2. They are too cheap to turn the heat up, the entire place was FREEZING! Most of everyone had on their winter coats, and they refused to do anything about it when people asked to do something. Very uncomfortable!!
3. The owner and co-owner made their own alcoholic drinks and drank them at the bar in front of all the guests. The owner & co-owner also, both seemed to be all hyped up on some kind of drugs, just as the other people felt, that have left terrible reviews about this place.
4. Not to mention, the owner & co-owner also helped themselves to the buffet line as well, pretty much right as the last person was done, and before the first person could get seconds... they couldn't even wait until the food got put up in the back!!
5. When they finally decided to clean up tables & plates, an hour once we were done eating, the one & only “busser employee guy” (wearing a un-tucked nasty plaid, half way buttoned up, stained shirt and a odor that one CANNOT describe) decides to get the plates, glasses and silverware as the Bride & Grooms slideshow of their life & music played. Even with evil eyes from everyone beaming on him at all times. Completely Unprofessional!!
6. The co-owner lady was also dressed like 2 cent hooker. Wish I took a picture to post, just to show. Very sad, enough said.
Last but not least, one of the most disturbing memories of the night is how the owners tried to consistently bully the DJ & photo/video service people the entire night! The DJ was constantly having to battle with the owners and only tried to make the entire experience for everyone there as bearable as possible. It was everything from the DJ trying to get his own equipment into the place, to trying to reserve room for the slideshow projector screen. When the DJ finally convinced the co-owner lady to remove a table to make room for the projector because they failed to do it in the first place, she went absolutely BIZZERK!! She stomped her feet like a 2 year old temper tantrum and slammed and banged plates, glasses and silverware the whole time, while making even more of a seen folding up the table legs, even louder bangs, and dramatically rolling the table out of the room… even as everyone was watching her with pure stupidity.
I finally had to leave early because of how sick to my stomach I was from this indespicable treatment the guests and most importantly the Bride & Groom and the family were receiving. Or maybe it was the awful illness I was feeling in my stomach from the food I had just eaten from there… which I have already reported to the Springfield Health Department and will soon be contacting the BBB.
So if you are a fan of getting treated and served in any of these manners, then by all means be my guest and call to reserve your date now!! But by the looks from other people’s reviews on this place it seems hard to get the owner lady out of bed to come unlock the doors for an appointment!!
