Capitol Theatre

Built in 1921, the Capitol Theatre for more than 90 years, has provided residents and visitors to Clearwater with the finest in entertainment. Now, this gran old dame has found new life under a partnership between The City of Clearwater & Ruth Eckerd Hall. Plans are currently underway to restore the Capitol to it's 1920's glory!

Locals think the recent renovation of this nearly century-old theater, one of several venues run by Ruth Eckerd Hall, is just what sleepy downtown Clearwater needs. If the stylish, 750-seat auditorium's caliber of acts aren't enough of a draw, features like the new rooftop terrace and bar should be.

Constructed and established in 1921 as the Capitol Theatre (Royalty Theatre 1982-2008), this classic structure, complete with a large mezzanine and furnishings reminiscent of a classic Hollywood theater, is one of the oldest operating theatres in the state of Florida.
