Our New Energy-Efficient Windows Will Cost You Less Than Your Old Ones

The salesman will tell you how great they do, but the company fails to follow through with it. I ordered 9 windows on Dec. 17th. of 2010 and didn't get finished with my install until March 19th, 2011. Windows were initially installed on 2-12 (Sat.), but by Sunday night, I realized that there were major problems with the install, although during the install I expressed concerns to the installer. They could only install 6 of the 9 because they measured wrong. Of those six installed, my wife could not operate 4 of them because they were too tight, the other two were tight but with two hands she could operate them. The caulking job on the outside was not smoothed out at all; it was gooped on and left several voids where you could see in the wall around the window. One big picture window had the frame busted on the install and when I pointed it out to the installer, he said "I'm glad you noticed that, I didn't see it". I saw him hitting the frame with a hammer less than 15 minutes earlier trying to get it back on the window to fix it! I sent an email a day after the install to the salesman stating that we had some major problems with the install. I received a call the next morning and I thought they were going to take care of it right away, but I was wrong. They finally sent a runner out to take pictures of it after many phone calls on Wednesday (three days later). The next day, I received a call saying they would have the same installer come fix his mistakes. I respectfully asked to have another installer come instead, since I was unhappy with his install and him lying to me. After many more phone calls including some to the owner of the company (since it seemed no one cared about my business), another installer came out on Saturday (7 days after initial install) and said they would have to reorder all but one window. After I asked for a discount for extra expense and trouble, they gave me a discount of $250. This didn't cover the extra expenses of another contractor having to leave and return to finish his job when the windows where finished and the minor repair I have to do to one wall (texturing, fixing a hole and paint). The manager said this was all they could do and break even, it represented under a 5% discount. They replaced the earlier installed windows on March 14th and those installers were much more professional than the first. They made sure the windows operated much smoother and it seemed they knew more and had more experience than the first. They still had to come back on the 19th, because they forgot to re-caulk the one window they left in (Repairing the caulk job from the first installer) and the inside of one other window they installed. They also had to add caulk to one window that the caulking fell in because the gap was too big. I was doing this as a part of a refinance, and I needed some paperwork filled out for the bank. It took them 2 weeks and many phone calls to get this back to me which tied up my loan during this time. The reason I went with Cashion is because of the triple pane (The experience ended up being a triple pain!!) that they were selling had good numbers and warranty, they were not the cheapest bid, but far from the most expensive. If I had it to do again, I would go with another company. This was one of the worst contracting experiences I have ever had and I say that having dealt with some bad contractors.
