Tips

Parking: Metered parking can be difficult on this busy street, and neighborhoods are strictly regulated. Opt instead for the free parking lot behind the store.

Great cheese store in Silverlake:
Great place for cheese, wine, charcuterie and other gourmet goodies in the central part of town. a great local resource.

rich, cheesy goodness:
Well, the old CS of SL knows their cheese. And they'll let you try stuff, just ask. I love the Montgomery's cheddar, and the Mimolette, and a Swiss washed rind soft cheese called Le Marechal. And you can get Epoisses, and Cowgirl Creamery. And they have a nice selection of salumi. And then there's the wine. If you're looking for cult wines that you can't find elsewhere, at prices that are not inflated, you need to stop by. Among the labels they carry: Behrens & Hitchcock, Scholium, Hundred Acre, Robert Foley, Surh Luchtel, and on and on. There's even a couple of bottles of Sine Qua Non, if you feel like dropping a few bills.

Editorial Reviews

This "one-stop party shop" in Silver Lake provides an "amazing" array of "top-quality" domestic and imported cheeses along with cured meats, bread and wine; "yes, you pay for it", but the "highly savvy staff will listen to you, make recommendations and even offer you a taste."

Citysearch Editorial Review:
Tucked away in the crimson courtyard behind Intelligentsia coffee house is where you'll find this fromage heaven that lends a little Beverly Hills gourmand status to an area known for vintage...
