About Claypool UMC In 1886, William Claypool, donated land for a Methodist Episcopal Church and cemetery to be built on Huff Creek, Logan County, West Virginia. The church was built on logs hauled to the site by oxen. It was heated by wood and lighted by oil lamps. The benches have square nails which were made by James. D. Brown.
