A Dishonorable Contractor:
Ed Barcik provided an inflated estimate for work that was required on a house I purchased. Fully exploiting the purchase contract timeline, his employees did half of the work on the estimate and he demanded the full monetary amount of the estimate. When the seller of the house asked for a bill for work completed he never responded. The contractor never set foot on the worksite and put a lien on the house without notice or speaking to anyone. The work that was performed is terrible and needs to be completely redone. He has shone a complete lack of professionalism by refusing to answer phone calls from me, my agent, the agent's broker, or the seller that contracted with him. He has been blacklisted by my real estate agency. The mortar joints of the repair area were doubled in size to skimp on material. A white mortar was used when the rest of the mortar on the house is grey. Because the joints are over an inch wide and the mortar looks to be improperly mixed, there are cracks throughout the entire area which will allow water to get in behind the stone. Rather than handle this issue like a man, he chose ignore any reasonable request. He didn't even answer the phone or return a phone call.
