Beware! I almost didn't get my boots back!:
I left my boots for repair during the summer at the same time as some sandals. I picked up the sandals within a few days but the boots needed more repair, which was a longer process. Unfortunately, as time went on, I forgot all about the boots until the winter when I went to my closet to get them. Suddenly, I remembered where they were! I made sure to get by there the very next day to get them. They close at 6:00 and I arrived at 5:15. Ironically, my boots were already sitting there on the desk behind the counter. I thought it was just coincidence but it was obviously NOT the case as the employee there was so extremely disgruntled that I had come to retrieve them. When I questioned her further of exactly "why" my boots were already sitting out, she replied, "You don't want to know". I then said well, you have to tell me now! She then proceeded to tell me that the store was allowing her to purchase the boots for the price of the repair, $40.00, and she was setting them out because she was going to be taking them home with her that day. She was angry because she had not only already purchased a jacket to match the boots but she openly told me that she already decided that if I came in to get the boots, she would just tell me that she couldn't find them! She went on to say, what are the odds that you would come in today 45 minutes before closing. In 45 minutes those boots would have been mine. When I asked why the store did not call me to remind me that the boots were completed and needing to be picked up, the woman hesitantly said that she did call the number on the ticket. I asked when she called and she said about 3 weeks ago. That was not true. I did not ever receive any calls. I looked into my call log from my phone bill and there was NEVER a call from their store. It is obvious that this woman had no intention of calling to remind me to pick up my boots. She wanted them! Furthermore, my friends and family encouraged me to contact the owner. After explaining what had happened, the store owner started YELLING at me over the phone and telling me that it was not his problem if I forgot about my boots and it certainly was not their job to remind people that their shoes are there! I, very calmly, explained that a phone call would have been nice. This man continued to scream into the phone that his "employee" makes phone calls everyday! And I'm sure she does make calls...only to the customers that have shoes in for repair that she doesn't want! Watch out if you wear a ladies size 91/2 or 10!
(I just hung up on the owner, midstream of his screaming. You couldn't pay me to walk back in there)
