Poor Customer Service, Shop Elsewhere:
I rarely write a review online but my exerience at the Virginia Beach Conte's was unbelievable. I had a goupon that expired and planned to use it for the groupon's face value which never expires.
The groupon clearly stated:
"Value of the Groupon Voucher
This voucher has two separate values: (a) the amount
paid; and (b) the promotional value. The amount paid will
never expire and may be applied toward any goods or
services offered by the merchant if the promotion is no
longer available. The promotional value is the additional
value beyond the amount paid, and it will expire on the
expiration date above (unless prohibited by law)."
Since the groupon had expired, I made the trip out to Conte's to pick up a couple of items. After picking out a tool and a flasher, I went to the counter to pay for the goods. As she was ringing up the items, I let the cashier know that I would be using the groupon for the majority of the payment. She immediately let me know that this groupon could not be used for merchandise, but only toward a tune up (a tune up was the original promotion). I moved away from the counter and read the groupon closely to make sure that it could be used for merchandise.
After being sure that it could be used for goods, I returned to the counter and let the employee know that she was incorrect and that the groupon clearly stated that it may be applied toward any goods or services if the promotion is no longer available. She pointed to the top of the goupon over and over again and said that the original amount paid for the groupon was only good toward a tune up. I asked her what the portion of the groupon that I quoted above meant (the Value of the Groupon Voucher section), but she would not anser my question. The Conte's employee kept giving me excuses as to why the groupon was not available for goods. When I bluntly asked whether or not that Conte's would do what the coupon said, she would tell me that it was like buying one thing and asking for another.
I cannot remember a worse retail experience.
