With its unassuming exterior, you’d never guess, but one foot inside and you'll be feeling hungry like the wolf. After 12 years sharpening his teeth in kitchens on both coasts, Chef William Werner has brought his expertise to Valencia Street. His new contemporary patisserie, Craftsman and Wolves has patrons howling for his breakfast pastries, exquisite cakes, confections and out-of-this-world savory temptations. Go early for the always sold out, signature Werner dish, the “Rebel Within” – a savory cheese muffin with bits of sausage and a whole soft-cooked egg in the center.
Afternoon tea is only offered here on Mondays through Wednesdays, but it's worth skipping work or calling in sick to try it out because the delicacies are all creative and unusual.
This handsome Mission bakery is nothing short of spectacular, with row after row of tempting sweet & savory financiers, gougeres, cakes, & eclairs. But what I cannot stop thinking about is the out of this world "sipping caramel" with a crispy croissant chip. They also do afternoon tea weekdays from 1-4pm.
I love everything here. The Rebel Within, savory muffin with a soft-cooked egg in the center, is a world-class baked good. The cube cakes are stunningly beautiful and complex works of art. Even the bread is extraordinary.
