Shady business practices - such a shame.:
We had been planning to enroll our 4 year old in their preschool/Kindergarten readiness program. We had considered a number of different facilities in the area and genuinely liked what we saw when we visited. Unfortunately, the shady business practices of this establishment are what has lead us to other options.

We were pressured to quickly give them a check to secure our child's space - as there was one spot remaining and others who were interested as well. Without any knowledge of their "policy" we submitted the check and an emergency contact form as we were told by the Assistant Director that is all we needed to hold the spot. We later changed our minds and sadly, the owner refused to refund us the $$ we paid - over $100 to hold the spot.

She claimed her policy was NO refunds, but we were not made aware of this policy prior to our requesting the funds back, nor were we asked to sign anything that would indicate our agreement. We were also not asked to provide enrollment information other than the emergency contact form.

She told us the emergency contact form was our "contract" and when asked about the "agreement" form we were not asked to sign, we were told that it was "not important" and only there for the state of PA as a requirement. This form was PA Code 3270.123 - which is clearly a form for fee schedule. The emergency contact form, PA code 3270.181 was strictly the Emergency Contact form and what we were asked to only complete. Upon review of the PA Code for Child Care facilities, she is required to disclose all of this with us. per PA Code 3270.121 "application" and is quoted as such: "The operator shall review with the parent, at the time of application, the facility's general daily schedule, hours for which care is provided, fees, responsibilities for meals, clothing, health policies, supervision policies, night care policies, dismissal policies, transportation and pick-up arrangements."

We attempted to amicably resolve this, repeatedly but the owner outright refused to return our funds. I had even hand delivered the check to her upon our intent to have our child in her care but she NEVER mentioned the policy at all.

If an owner of a facility that will be caring for my child is so difficult and rude with me, I can only imagine how she must treat her employees and therefore how they would treat the children. I am appalled.
