Description

Luring both the “stylish” and the “flannel”-clad, this Village lesbian lair exudes a “down-to-earth” air, partly because of the “kitschy” memorabilia dangling from its ceiling; still, the “colossal crowds” jamming in on weekends feel this “aptly named” joint is way “too small.”

Editorial Reviews

Tremendously fun place in the West Village with hundreds of crazy props hanging from the ceiling. Aside from their city-wide renown for being both the best lesbian bar and the best neighborhood bar, they also offer the Sunday Drunch, which is billed as the "drunkest Sunday brunch in town."

This longtime lesbian and gay hangout/watering hole is tiny, but its modest size only adds to the intimate appeal—even though “intimate” sometimes means way too packed. It's also a great neighbourhood bar, and until the Beatrice Inn closed next door, it was a great place to sink your sorrows after getting rejected from that door. The ceiling is a tawdry cornucopia of party...

A charming bar straight out of the Little Mermaid school.:
In Brief
A West Village corner bar that dresses itself up as the bottom of the ocean (dangling goldfish and seaweed hang from the ceiling), the Cubbyhole welcomes a mixed lesbian and...

Information from the business

Essentially a dressed up neighborhood spot, this adorable beach-themed hideaway in the West Village is about as relaxed and friendly as bars can get. It draws an amiable mix of lesbians, gays and heterosexuals. The staff seems especially proud of their extensive selection of unusual martinis including chocolate, raspberry, caviar and the English Sapphire Martini. Be sure to take notice of the...
