paid for work on mom's truck not performed:
Well highly recommended before Dave Shaw died. They did $1000s of work on mine and my family's old cars to keep them running under his proprietorship and their mechanics Rick and Johnny.. But I took my 1989 Buick Century over there a week ago barely running and only
Rick was working and they had jobs backed up and the daughter-in-law said it would be awhile. So a week and a half later, no car and I wanted to ask them to expedite and get it done Friday if possible, if not I just thought I'd ask and she informed me that she couldn't work on the car and they didn't bother to call me & that for 1 1/2 weeks letting me think my car was being fixed all that time. Now, needing to take a trip to the west coast to see my dying mother in a rehab center, I HAVE 2 days to find another mechanic to fix it and trustworthy, reasonably price ones like these people USED TO BE under DAVE's leadership ARE very difficult to find. So i pressed for more since this was very odd, i'd had my car up there recently for little freebies had inquired about repairs and nothing was said to the contrary so I pressed and she informed me that Rick refused to work on my car. and I'm like "What? he's worked on it and fixed it like a half dozen times since '06!" and so I'm like "why doesn't he like me" and then I recalled having taken my mom's red 1996 Ranger in for a thermostat housing and thermostat change because I looked at it and thought it was leaking there and my mother wanted them to do the work, not me. So wanting to save money,by telling them what i needed and thereby avoiding a diagnostic fee, i told them to do that, flush the cooling system it and change the anti freeze. So he changed the upper hose instead and charged me a diagnostic fee, a flush and a hose change, $131. I trusted the man's work, work but being a stickler for details and liking all the knowledge about my vehicles I can get,. i asked them to call him in to discuss it to ask what he found and how and was he sure about it not being the thermostat housing, (my late brother diagnosed it as such as well) end he immediately turned what can only be described as very p*ssy at the question right in front of the owner. who didn't say a word.was very rude and challenging saying "your're questioning my work!" and I said no sir, i am merely questing you about what you found when you worked on it" and he barked "yes you are" and remained belligerent would not answer until I gave up trying to mend the fence at the moment and paid and left and thought bygones were bygones, that I'd be taken at my word that I was not questioning the quality of his work. Well it turns out I SHOULD have questioned it because a year later when i changed the radiator, I found out he had not performed work I paid to have done.
. When I changed the radiator last December in the Ranger I FOUND OUT HE NEVER FLUSHED it, like I paid for, instead, he topped it off with the gallon of green antifreeze I provided. The way I found is because I thought the antifreeze had rust in it because it was all red when I took it up there about a year ago but in fact, the color was rust because my brother had flushed it and put GM Dexcool back in it long before I took it to Shaw's to get the hose replaced.
so based on that exchange in which I was completely flummoxed by his bad attitude because I had the utmost respect for his work and Shaw's at that point or I would not even have brought my mother's vehicle there..
Well at this point realizing there was no bridges to burn there anymore, I cursed the daughter -in-law out and informed her that I thought this was a good place and good people but that now I knew that Dave after Dave died, their A-holes so she said "don't bring my father in law into this "and I go "f" you, Dave was the only decent person ever here and the rest of you turned out to be just a bunch stupid of a-holes. expletives not deleted, and left and came back to get my car from Buick and thought about telling him what a candy-a@!e pantywaist he turned out to be around a couple like minded women without Dave around to keep his lousy attitude in check, but changed my mind, got into my barely running car and left. ,
