Theft by Deception:
Mr. Neild, owner of Deal Direct, lives just down the street from me who I viewed more as a friend and neighbor than contractor, so when he needed $7500 [my final payment] to purchase material for another job I paid him even though, as he said: "But your project is not done....". Yes, and I recall saying something like, "Well, we're friends and neighbors, it's not like your going to screw me." Well, need I say more – THAT WAS THE LAST I SAW OF HIM. After several ignored messages and "no-shows" I wrote a letter requesting reimbursement, within 45 days, for unfinished work so that I could hire contractors to complete my project. NO response so it was off to Special Civil Court where I was awarded a Judgement [BUR-DC-002155-17]. Guess he feels no remorse as he drives past my house multiple times each week and not concerned about the company’s reputation. I THOUGHT I was a pretty good judge of a person's character…….!
