The Deerfield Beach Historical Society was founded in 1973, with a directive to identify, preserve and maintain historical sites in the Deerfield Beach area. The first order was to preserve the Pioneer House ( Kester Cottage ), a 1930's era cottage. The Society came together in 1976 to prevent demolition of the old two-room school house, which also served as the town's city hall for many years....
