Din Tai Fung is a Chinese restaurant specializing in Xiao Long Bao, or soup dumplings. Since its founding by Mr. Bing-Yi Yang in Taiwan in 1972, Din Tai Fung has become world-renowned for its quality, consistency and service. Originally founded as a cooking oil retail business, Din Tai Fung was reborn as a steamed dumpling and noodle restaurant in 1972. With a menu that now includes steamed buns, handmade noodles and vegan dishes, the brand has won many awards and allocations. Today, Din Tai Fung has over 170 locations in 13 countries worldwide.

Waits can be almost an hour for weekends lunches. Place your order with the hostess as soon as you arrive, and your food will be ready at about the same time you're seated.

This is about the classiest, cleanest dumpling house you'll find. The decor is modern, the servers are all dressed in matching outfits, and the service is efficient. The dumplings are small, tender with delicate skins. My other favorites are the Shanghai rice cake and hot and sour soup. This place gets crowded on weekends, so be sure to go early or go on a weeknight. A good place to impress your friends who normally hate the typical no-atmosphere chinese restaurants.
