As a troubled adolescent, my son was in therapy with Donna Astor-Lazarus for help with significant emotional issues, including anger management, depression, and related emotional issues. Without going into detail, the most important and in my opinion, the most valuable feedback I can offer is this:
Some 17 years later, my son, now 33, maintains that Donna was the ONLY therapist who ever understood him, cared about him and had any positive impact on his mental health. Donna was the last of 3 professionals my son saw during middle school through high school and over the years he has repeatedly told me that anyone else he saw was just a waste of time and money.
Donna was also skilled at ensuring that my son felt she respected the confidentiality regarding their sessions together and at the same time, provide me with feedback on his progress and suggestions of what I could do to help, as his mother.
Several years after my son graduated from high school I had the privilege of working in the same school district as Donna, Montgomery Township, and I can say without reservation, that Donna Astor-Lazarus truly stood out among our fine staff of counselors and child study team professionals.
Donna has the special gift of being able to connect with her young clients in a way others can't.
