Traveling through southern Oregon to northern California on vacation my transmission started slipping. I pulled into Dusty's late in the day after looking online for a reputable transmission shop.They obligingly checked it out and declared my transmission ruined. They had a rebuilt one in stock and could have it in by the end of the next day for $3800. I said that seemed high but they assured me that it was competitive for a quality job. Being almost closing time and anxious to not ruin my families vacation I regretfully agreed. They did help us out by shuttling us to a reasonable hotel. When picked up the vehicle the next afternoon they said the charge was $4100. I inquired at two very reputable shops in Portland--one of them being affiliated with the same "ATRA" rebuilders association and both shops quoted me $2300! I wish I had shopped around!!!
