I used this firm for some post divorce matters and was taken to the cleaners. I was asked by my attorney, Jennifer Fortunato of the firm, to put together a wish list of what I wanted the judge to grant me. Since I was always fighting for my parenting time and many other issues I did as recommended. Jennifer burned through my $6000 retainer before even going to court, which I questioned when I received the notice that my retainer was gone but did not get a response. We went to court and I did not get one thing asked for in my motion. In fact, my ex to her credit, called out Jennifer because the counter response was 30 pages instead of the court permitted 10 pages. The judge agreed with my ex and threw out my attorneys response. I then received a bill for almost $7,000.00 for the remainder of their billed hours. I refused to pay it and took them to court. Needless to say, the judge did not grant my motion that I was billed for not only not getting anything for my money, but for them ignoring my request as to how they could have burned through my retainer so quickly and then continue to do more work and continue to rack up billable hours. This firm is expecting me to pay $14,000.00 for nothing. After this fiasco I filed a motion with the court on my own for $30.00 and got more from the judge than Jennifer Fortunato ever did. They also ruined my chances of getting a loan of any kind because they filed a judgement against me, which shows on my credit reports. It seems there has been a pattern of this at this firm.
