I was horrified by the treatment I got at this store. I am a minimalist runner which is a new trend, but after lots of research and personal injuries wearing supportive running shoes I made the switch. I wear Vibram Five Fingers and since I've started running in these my injuries have completely gone away and my stride is perfect. My husband is so astounded by how much they have improved my running ability that he became interested in finding a pair of minimalist shoes as well. He didn't want vibrams because the look is different so I called First Gear to see what they offered. The associate on the phone mocked me when I told him I ran in VFFs he said "don't you know they are originally designed for boat shoes" Then he proceeded to ask me how far I ran and what pace I ran- and never explained why he did. I'm guessing he thought I didn't run very much and was going to use that against me. However I put in 20+ miles a week. I figured they guy wasn't very familiar with the new shoes and that maybe another associate would be more helpful so I went into the store. I wore my VFFs and instantly a couple associates started to point and whisper. I asked what they had to offer and they told me they only had one option close to it but it still had a lot of control and support. One gentleman that worked there told me I should get my husband a gift card so he could come in and figure out what he wanted. I said that I didn't need anymore assistance and that I would head to Go Run to see what they had. I was greeted with wonderful service and employees that have done their research as well on minimalist running. I found an amazing pair of Brooks running shoes that was just what I wanted. I will never go to First Gear again and will strongly suggest to my friends to not go as well.
