Fitness Connection has over 40 locations across 3 states and we’re growing! Our clubs offer so much more than the ordinary ten-dollar gym. Most locations span over a jaw-dropping 60,000 square feet filled with rows of top-notch cardio and strength equipment, premiere studio spaces, basketball courts, a Kids Club and more. But equally important to WHAT we offer is WHY we offer it. We strongly believe that everything in our gyms must add value to our members’ lives, providing the convenience and quality they deserve. At a price they can afford.

Fitness Connection bought out my old gym recently, Sound Fitness off of Westheimer. I was never notified of this by email, phone or mail. I found out because when I went to the Sound Fitness location to go work out one night, the building was empty and a taped white paper on the window stated that they were now Fitness Connection. This was complete news to me...no heads up? No courtesy call? No nothing.

I went home and checked my bank statements to see if I had been charged for the recent month. There were new membership charges from Fitness Connection that same week. Not once did they contact me allowing me the choice to accept the new membership with them or to cancel. Instead, they decided to charge my account without me knowing. Is that illegal? Sounds like it is.

I contacted the gym, and they told me I can only cancel my membership via their corp. office. I did so, and they told me I had to mail in a paper request of cancellation and that it will take 30 days to process ONCE they receive it.

From the comments I've read here and pretty much everywhere else I did a search on these scammers, I feel certain that my request will never be filled and go unanswered. We will see.

To be taken advantage of like this, to see other people scammed and to have no control over it makes me feel helpless and victimized. I'm not in contract with them, but if I block them from charging my card with my bank, or if I cancel my credit card, they have the power to screw my credit up as well. My bank said that all they need is my address and name! What am I to do!!??

This whole situation is just not right!

**I'm going to write this review on all of their location pages because their corporate office represents them as a whole and people need to be made aware of their acts!

I started with a personal trainer at the beginning of Feb 09, after 2 and 1/2 weeks of training, and getting comfortable and sharing my personal fitness info, I return to my next session only to be stood up. I ask the staff where my trainer was and if he was in or out sick and no one knew anything. This went on for about a week and 1/2. Finally I spoke with the manager after being given the run around for almost 2 weeks, and they set me up with another trainer, who had a completely different regimen of things to learn and start completely over. I felt like I wasted the first 2 & ½ weeks. So after getting adjusted to a new Personal trainer, and again sharing person fitness info, things went on for about 3 weeks while the trainer missed several appointments without notice, then I show up for a session to find again, he is not there, with not even a phone call. Once again I asked the staff where is my trainer and no one could answer me. And this went on for another week of inquiry. Only to find out that he is no longer employed. My money has been wasted, and am demanding my money back for the remaining 6 sessions that I have not used. I had also purchased products as requested by one trainer only to be told by the other, I should have bought something else in the line, I feel that it would be very demeaning and humiliating to have to disclose more of my personal info about my fitness to their rude staff. I was not even given the courtesy of a call nor an apology at either time when I made blank trips for days I had appointments scheduled, or for being given the run around about the status of my trainers employment, and such rudeness shown to me by the mgmnt staff during the process. No one would give me the time of day while I was attempting to get info. They didn’t want to be bothered with me unless I spent more money. I do not want to continue personal training with this snotty business, I WANT MY MONEY BACK. They have wasted my time, and are attempting to steal the remainder of my money spent.
