Established in 1986, the FCSMC is part of an international community of over 150 urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by the Venerable Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist meditation master. His son and heir, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, best selling author of "Turning the Mind into an Ally", and "Ruling your World", heads the Shambhala International community.
