Haven't been - can't make appointment:
I cannot rate the quality of service as I have never been.
I called around 11am this morning to try and make an appointment for an eye exam. I was told that they were "short staffed" and that in order to make an appointment I would have to call back at 3:45pm. Okay, a little odd, but okay.
I figured 3:45pm meant any time after 3:45pm, but it didn't, it meant 3:45pm. I called back around 4:50pm and asked to make an appointment. However, I was told they were "short staffed" and I'd have to call back tomorrow at 3:45pm. I told the person that I was told today to call back at 3:45pm and thats why I am calling now (at 4:50pm). She told me that they have someone there to take appointments right at 3:45pm and thats it. Super convenient!

Frustrating and Inadequate:
I had an overall terrible experience at Freed's Optical and would never return. Though Dr. Kimmeth was average during the consult, she was hasty and not personable. Unfortunately, she was the best part of the overall operation. Her supporting staff shows little concern for patients. They avoid speaking directly, and when they do speak are unclear and unhelpful. Any questions directed at them cause agitation, as they generally cannot answer even the most legitimate questions and do not exhibit any willingness to find the answer independently.
On top of everything else, the charges were excessive and not explained before being invoiced. Even with insurance I was forced to pay an extra $70 simply to have Dr. Kimmeth write out a prescription for contact lenses. They called this a 'fitting fee,' because my exam was for glasses. Though the nature of the exam was no different than a typical exam it was $70 extra. When I returned for pick-up, additional charges had been levied that had never before been mentioned and the staff could not offer any coherent explanation for them.
I would not recommend going to Freeds as they are incredibly frustrating to deal with and are far below standard in their service.
