Examine your pre-owned cert. Veh. Carefully:
In 06 I purchased a certified pre-owned 04 rav4 with 1 yr. warranty. After 10 months, i discovered the rubber trim around the windshield was coming off. I went to Gateway service and the head service guy said "You replaced the windshield, it's no longer under warranty." I argued (via an assistant) with Ed Sunday, Mgr., about how that was a fact that was missed by them upon the original owner trade-in, and i purchased a certified vehicle that should not have been certified because the windshield is NOT a Toyota windshield! It makes noise when i drive, it's windy, no wipers will ever be a perfect fit because the wiper arms are designed specifically to a toyota windshield, the dashboard squeeks at times when the road is rough. Three of the maintenance dept. mechanics (toyota employees) have looked at my car and agree that Toyota should be responsible to replace it for me. But they're not testifying for me because they need their jobs. In the end, Mr. Sunday's rep said, sorry, but it's not their problem. Nice, huh? Ooh, but he'll give me $400 off a new vehicle! wow. I even contacted Toyota headquarters, but they said it's up to the individual dealership manager. So when i go to trade this car in for another, if they pick up on the windshield, I'm getting alot less for it than i should. Thanks Gateway of Toms River! I'll never buy there again!
