Bait and switch!:
My suggestion is that if you decide to do business with Galaxy Granite, Inc. at 615 Bayshore Blvd in San Francisco, that you keep careful records, take pictures of the granite countertop you pick out, and if possible, get a sample. I was not so careful and feel I was taken advantage of when they showed up to do the installation with granite that I had not picked out. I had carefully chosen two slabs of prefab “Black Galaxy” that had small flakes as part of its appearance. I separately chose the “back splash” at the same company, and took it over to the slabs to compare it for similarity and at that time it matched. Their procedure is to write your name and address on a piece of masking tape and stick it on the pieces you pick out, something that can easily be removed and moved to another piece.
When the installers arrived to do the installation, I was shocked to see that the countertop granite that they had cut and brought to install was not the same as what I had originally chosen, as it had very large flakes similar to “Blue Pearl” granite that did not match the pieces of back splash which were that same as I had chosen. I refused to have them continue with the installation and went back over to CGI and spoke with the owner, Mr. Pang. Mr. Pang was one in the butt, as he talked around the problem, did not answer my questions in a straight manner and required that I pay an additional $600.00 to get the correct countertop. Suddenly the good price I had originally agreed upon with him was now much more than I would have agreed to originally. As I had already paid a deposit of $800.00, and because it was my word against theirs, I was stuck with having to pay the extra if I was to get the work done. Obviously, I do not recommend this company!
