This shop cost me $900.00 plus 15 hours of lost time trying to install my glass correctly:
I have a BMW 645 Convertable and went to have my glass replaced. the person that put the glass in did not install seals that would buffer the glass to the metal frame causing a noise in the dash. After 5 times back to the shop the Regional Manager said I could take it to the BMW dealer. Before I took the car the person that replaced the glass told me "Oh" I know why your car is making that noise" bring it back and I will fix it. So round trip was about 60 minutes, times 5, from baltimore city then you had to wait for it for 1-2 hours so I spend about 15 hours and they still did not get it right. So the installer said last week we had defective glue and we had 3 cars return with your problem. So he took the glass out and replaced the glue reusing all the seals again, I will get to seal reuse in a minute. Still it made the noise. I called back 15 minutes down the road and he said to bring it back in the morning"I know what the problem is" This time he blammed it on the aftermarket seal around the window, not the one on the base of the window. They replaced and again I drive out, 15 minutes later I call back, Still a bad noise, he saids"I know what the problem is we will get original seal around the window and replace" Bring it back again, this story is for real everybody, So again I bring it back to have the original seal replaced but not the bottom seal as the installer said this seal was in good shape, A secrete, if anyone tells you seals can be removed then resealed, do not believe them, Once the seal is broken you have to replace. To make a long story short the Regional manager told me if he could not fix then he would have me take it to BMW. I did so and took to towson BMW. The Regional manager called the service manager and told him to be easy on him on the cost. The service manager for BMW said you had 5 trys Mr. Joel Mcdaniel, this is the head guy for 60 stores and we are going to fix the customers car right the first time. The car was fixed and then the VP of glassmasters, gerald, he never disclosed his full name and his first name may be incorrect, got involved and I guess Joel must have gotten his butt handed to him for allowing me to go to BMW and had Joel not have any more communication with me, in fact gerald had joel on conference call but would not allow him to say a word. It gets worse, the installer broke my windshield wipper arms and was using his wrench like a madman. the stoy on the bottom seal, he never replaced remember? Well even the RM joel mcdanield said directly that this seal has to be removed and replaced. The point to this review, they advertise the cheapest when they are not, they do not know what they are doing and this cost me $900.00. The good news is group is that if you want to fight people that are dishonnest then all you do is to go to general district court and file for $20.00 a chance to go before a judge. I am doing this now. I will say I have a great letter that states that my windshield was unsafe using improper installation.
Just call the State Corporation Commission and they will give you the registered agents name. You sue the Company, in this case its Glassmasters then you have the registered agent as the person you are filing suit aginst. the court clerk will even help you, its very easy. call witnesses and its $20.00 per witness as they have to be issued the summons.
If you value your car take it either to the dealer or call your insurance company to see who they recommend as if something happens like in my case you have someone to fall back on.
Glassmasters of Maryland is the worse I have ever used and will never use again. Like they say, you tell one person then you have told 7 pass it on and they will be out of business soon.
