A jacket is essential if you're taking the breezy walk across the bridge.
Parking:
On the north side, the Vista Point parking lot is free and open 7am to 7pm daily, but there's a four-hour limit. The southeast parking lot is metered, so bring some quarters.

Took a Hop on Off Bus tour which we were able to get down take our time and take great pics. Also took a boat ride up to the bridge and around Alcatraz. All very enjoyable.
