Nathan C. Meeker, an agriculture writer for Horace Greeley at the New York Tribune, founded the Greeley Tribune in 1870. Its first issue was published on Nov. 16, 1870. Nathan Meeker was also the founder of the city of Greeley. It was known as Union Colony then. The Greeley Tribune covers Weld County, Colorado, the ninth-largest agricultural producing county in the United States.
