Awesome food and cozy, very casual atmosphere. Regular food and all seasonal specials have been incredible. Yummy wine selection that brings out flavors in the just right spicy food. Take staff with grain of salt. They really are fun when you get to know them!

You definitely need to be into local, neighborhood-y places...which I am, so it worked out well. Very small space, so if you're claustrophobic, stay away for sure. I just moved here from San Diego, so I was looking for some good Baja-style cuisine, and Gringo's fit the bill. However, it's quite expensive - expect to pay $7 or $8 for a single taco (they're big...but would be about a buck or 2 in San Diego). Wine pours make it worth it, though - they pour a half-bottle per glass! My date and I sat at the bar and found the staff to be quite friendly - talking to us about the food preparation and local culture, etc. We'll be back often, but we also live in the area (not sure that we'd drive far if we didn't live close).

The best, most fresh, Southern CA-MEX food there is this side of CA!!!! This is the best food I have had in a long time! My friends all want to go to Gringos when they visit. They visit me just to go to Gringos...some of them even fly in from Boise, ID to get the best, most fresh, Southern CA-MEX food there is this side of CA.
