Musicians beware: Know Your Stuff!:
These people will tell you want you to sell something. Period. You HAVE to know what you're looking for if you want to be confident in your purchase, I learned the hard way.
I was looking for cables from bass to amp, I was sold more expensive speaker cables instead of instrument cables which i needed. (Then overcharged on the length).
As a new player I brought my bass in to buy strings, they tried to sell me heavy gauge black strings because it looked cool. Meanwhile I brought them a Gretsch Jr. that needed light gauge short scale and didn't know. No attempt to sell me what I really needed & I expected they'd know better than me, WRONG. After I learned this, I was looking for short scale bass strings on a different occasion. I was told they're ALL short scale unless they say long scale. WRONG. Luckily I knew enough from learning ELSEWHERE to kindly disagree and go somewhere else.
Don't make my mistakes, go to your local shop with a guy who actually plays and loves music instead of commissioned corporate kids playing on smart phones.
