Remodel For Less!:
Habitat for Humanity provides the ReStore as a way to put used building materials back to work. There are many gems mixed in with items you would not take if they paid you, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
For example, I recently saw a 4 foot by 2 foot solid copper oven hood being sold for $40.00. It had some marred edges where they took it off the wall and maybe a minor ding.
The copper alone was worth the money! In copper, a minor ding can be tapped out completely and the edges could be covered by drywall or stone.
The ReStore often requires a bit of thinking on how the item is going to be used. If this is not your cup of tea, perhaps you should stick with the box stores, although they do have new items such as $800.00 chandeliers for $80.00.
One of the tricks to shopping here is to come often and expect nothing. You will eventually find what you are looking for and probably a few things you didn't think of until you spotted them at 90% off.
If you keep an open mind, you will find bargains you could never have hoped to afford. If you are an artistic type, this place will become your playground.
