Description

HERSHEYPARK Stadium is the most prominent outdoor stadium between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, hosting such events as the annual Summer Concert Series, PIAA Football and Soccer Championships, and the BIG 33 Football Classic. With the addition of a state-of-the-art synthetic grass system, HERSHEYPARK Stadium continues to shine as the venue for athletic events, holding nearly 16,000 in the stands. Overall, HERSHEYPARK Stadium can hold 30,000 fans for concerts. In past years, the Stadium has hosted musical acts such as the Dave Matthews Band, Alabama, U2, James Taylor, and The Who. HERSHEYPARK Stadium, as with so many of Mr. Hershey's projects, was built as much for today as for the time when it was built. Through the years the Stadium has served as the summer home of the Philadelphia Eagles as well as the site of rodeos, athletic and music competitions, concerts, pageants, and racing events. In 1953, the Stadium and HERSHEYPARK Arena were the sites of a huge birthday gala in honor of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. THE STAR PAVILION at HERSHEYPARK Stadium opened in May of 1996, complementing HERSHEYPARK Stadium for summer concert performances. A more intimate venue, THE STAR PAVILION can accommodate up to 8,000 fans in both reserved seating in front of the stage and general admission lawn area.
