Does Safety Matter to Dollar?:
We had rented the vehicle for 4 days. The first three days, we did not have any issues. When we started the car at the hotel on the 4th day (7/17), there was a message on the dash that said Service Power Steering, and the vehicle did not have any power steering. We opened a case with Dollar on the mechanical failure and we were directed to the Melbourne Int'l Airport to get a new vehicle. When we go there, they did not have a vehicle to rent us (they had vehicles but they were not one way). We called another location in Melborne and they also could not rent us a vehicle. No one had any answers. We had to drive from Melbourne to Orlando Airport with no power steering (safety issue). In addition, our plans for that day were ruined because we could not safely drive the vehicle. Very poor customer service.
