Disgusted:
My son was not well informed by his guidance counselor, by the social worker at the crisis center, at the hospital ER, or at Highland Springs. He didn't really understand what was going on or what the consequences were throughout the whole 2 1/2 day nightmare. All involved should have without a doubt been sure he did. May be 18, but he's still an inexperienced kid. Whenever he panicked and got upset at Highland, they doped him up. He even thought he might need to go to the hospital when he did get home because the drugs they gave him the day before were still making him feel off. Sounds like they gave him quite a bit of meds. Just because he was scared? Not great counseling there that I can see. He keeps asking for reassurance that they're not able to come and take him back again. Breaks my heart. Now trying to find an outpatient doctor to help and undo. Often times there's more to a story than the obvious and that info can be quite pertinent to the situation. No one seemed to care about that. Because he was 18, no one would talk to us about him or what he was like, or other issues he had that could be/likely were contributing factors. (Wasn't asking for personal medical info of the present situation, just should have been able to give pertinent info about our son, whom we know well and they don't, that might help, but I'm not seeing that anyone was really wanting to help his depression, just lock him up and dope him up to keep him quiet for a few days.) A total nightmare that he won't soon get over, if ever.
