Tips

Save Time:
The same fine sushi is served up near South Street, sans teppan yaki.

Where to Sit:
Take off your shoes and head for one of the three sunken booths by the window. You'll get a between-course kick out of watching the SUVs, BMWs, the stylish and the cyclists, as you drink cosmopolitans from a table by the window.

This restaurant has top-notch Japanese cuisine, with a high, elegant greenhouse and more traditional tatami room. With other branches in Queen Village and Rittenhouse Square, Hikaru is known for its sushi selection, but the teppan grill is great fun for tabletop drama, with a server searing meat, fish, or vegetables before your eyes.

Upscale sushi upstairs on Main Street.:
Upward and Onward
Unless you're into the table-side-chef-with-knife-tricks thing--and unless you want to smell like fried beef--skip the first-floor teppan yaki, and head straight...
