Marc's Texas roots date back four generations. His grandfather was the mayor of Lockhart, Texas, a small town near Austin with the distinction of being the Official Barbecue Capital of the state and he is descended from a long line of Texas women with exceptional southern cooking and baking skills.

"Crispy-crunchy" fried chicken (including a "fabulous" skinless version) and "decent sides" make it hard to "save room for pie" at this low-budget Flatiron Southerner; regulars ignore the "service hiccups" and "groan-inducing", "rec-room" decor, reporting it's "quieter" downstairs.
