The Hobby Center began in 1966 as Nampa Canvas & Hobby by Ace and Kathy Dyas. Ace would sew canvas projects including tents and boat covers, and would also pour tons of plaster of paris to make paintable items, while Kathy would run the store. The little business grew, and a second store was opened in Boise. Ace and Kathy retired in 1992, so the two stores were combined into one larger Nampa...
