Fraud:
I contacted this company (AKA: New Tubz; Horn's Refinishing, abathtubrefinishinghouston.com) on October 25, 2016 regarding refinishing a tub at our rental property. I spoke with Lori Shirey and she informed me that there was a special rate of $245.00 for this service. She also mentioned that the service included a 5-year warranty. We then agreed upon a scheduled time of Thursday October 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at which point I informed her that my husband would be meeting the service provider at the home.
On October 27th, Johnny Horn arrived at the home as scheduled. Upon inspecting the tub, he informed my husband that the tube would need “scraping” and this would be an additional $50.00 fee, thus bringing the total cost to $295.00. Once he completed job, he insisted on cash as payment. My husband paid the agreed amount of $295.00 in cash. A couple of days after the tub refinish, our tenant reported that the solution the tub was sprayed with was leaking toward the drain. My husband then went over to evaluate the tub and take pictures. He called Johnny regarding this issue and Johnny assured him that he would return to repair the issue. However, we have contacted Johnny on several occasions regarding repair of this issue and he has given repeated excuses and then promises to send a technician out for the repairs, but no one ever showed up. It has been over 2 weeks and to no avail and the issue has not been resolved, thus the warranty has not been honored as advertised.
Johnny Horn and his associate Lori Shirey are operating multiple tub refinishing businesses and defrauding numerous consumers. They are operating under the promise of a 5-year-warranty while providing sub-standard work.

Please file complaints with Bureau of Consumer Protection/Federal Trade Commission, district attorney’ office and the BBB. Also, post your complaints on Yelp, Google review, Angie’s List, Yellow Pages, Facebook and Topix.
