Since first taking my car to Hovson Tire and Auto Repair, they could never repair my check engine light. The light remains on to this day (12/23/08).
I have copies of invoices showing that they replaced tires, rotors, changed the oil pan, repaired a motor controlling the passenger electric window. These also show that I visited their shop at least 1 to 2 times a month and sometimes more, from 3/2007 to 10/2008.
None of the tires they installed (6 in all) have lasted. I have just replaced 2 of their tires at GoodYear.
The passenger door window is again inoperative even though I usually drive alone.
After 6 months, Hovson's could not find what was causing the strong smell of oil to permeate the interior of my car though they cleaning the engine, replaced gaskets and added oil. AAMCO in Glendale found the problem in less than 30 minutes. Since AAMCO repaired the car, it also finally picks up quickly rather than dragging along.
In October 2008, Vic's father said my transmission was about to stop and said it would be minimum of $2000 to install a rebuilt transmission. He also said he did not know the extent of the damage to the transmission because he had not "opened it up." How could you state as fact that the vehicle has a transmission problem and assess repairs at a minimum of $2000 if you had not actually checked the transmission?
I filed a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair who have now informed me that Hovson's is willing to pay to have a diagnostic performed on the vehicle. I no longer trust Vic, his father or their shop. I will go elsewhere, instead.
Don't take your auto to Hovson and don't purchase their substandard tires.
