Dr. Carver is Awesome!:
I see that Dr. Carver has not received a review on here since 2012. I have been taking my fur baby to Dr. Carver since 2006 and have been nothing but pleased with the service. The front office staff is the same which is outstanding since turnover can be high. The wait may be a little long at times, but that is because they offer exceptional service at a very affordable price. Even when my fur baby passed away this week, they took his body and stored it free of charge until the crematorium people could pick him up. They are outstanding and really love their jobs and animals!

Highest Praise for Dr. Carver:
I give Humane Animal Hospital and Dr. Carver my highest praises. I cannot tell you how gracious and supportive they have been in taking care of our pets. We recently had an emergency with our dogs while under the care of dog sitters while we were out of town. Dr. Carver and his team, including Calvin, jumped right in and SAVED both our dogs! They did it with love and care and wisdom!

Then unfortunately last week, we had to put our old faithful dog to sleep due to old age. Dr. Caver and Dr. V. handle the situation with tender loving care. In fact, we just received a sympathy card from their office signed by everyone. It shows they really care!

I know my pets are as important to Dr. Carver as they are to me. I strongly recommend them!!

Best Pet Care in Plano:
I have been using Dr. Carver for over 8 yrs for all 4 of my precious babies and I have had nothing but exceptional experiences with him and his staff...they are caring and explain to me what they are going to do step by step..I have had two major health issues with one of my dogs and I expected some outrageous bill...and was surprised when the bill for an ear surgery was around $300. He recently had an infection in one of his paws, and eye injury and had an ear infection...I was expecting a even bigger bill but spent only $306 for over 3 hours of medical attention...I have used other vets and have called around checking prices and no one compares to Dr. Carver.

Unprofessional and Unethical:
I am an animal rescuer, and yesterday a foster mom contacted me because her foster dog started coughing. He was not coughing the day before, so this issue
was a new one and not advanced. Furthermore, I have rescued between 50-75 dogs with kennel cough in the last year alone, and so I have a lot of experience with the treatment protocols and costs for this particular issue.

Normally I'd ask a foster to go to one of the vets I work with regularly and therefore trust, but in this case the timing didn't work, so I told the foster mom I would pay for her to use her regular vet - Dr. Carver at Animal Hospital of Plano. I called the front desk beforehand and explained it was a rescue dog, that cost control was of
the essence, and that I only wanted this dog to get the basic necessary meds to address the cough. I also asked for a rescue discount, and they said they are a discount vet so it's already as cheap as possible.

After they saw the dog, they called me to authorize a $209 charge! I nearly fell over! I asked if they'd put it on hold since they already had my card and let me talk to the vet or a practice manager this morning, as I was expecting the charge to be closer to $50. The woman at the front desk put me on hold for literally five minutes and then the vet got on the phone - and he just started "going off."

So, I tried to calmy insert my point and just said I was not accusing the vet of anything (I literally said that I wasn't questioning his skill) but that I'm a rescuer, that I've rescued many many dogs with kennel cough in the last year alone, and that I've never seen treatment this extensive, especially when the cough has occurred for only one day. They gave him all kinds of injections and were sending him home with multiple antibiotics! So, I asked why he could not just prescribe Doxycyclene or Clavamox for this dog - and if he'd been able to give any sort of explanation that would've been fine!

Dr. Carver started literally yelling "fine, fine, well I tell you what, I won't charge you a dollar, I'll just take this medicine back and you can find another vet" and then yelled at his receptionist to take back the meds from the foster mom and slammed down the phone. It was sort of unreal.

I told the foster mom and the receptionist to please just charge it to me and in the future I'd know not to send any animals to Dr. Carver. Unfortunately, after even all of that, the poor dog ended up going home with no antibiotics.

I found Dr. Carver's attitude to be wholly unprofessional, and I find his treatment and billing practices to be unethical - both in the outrageous overtreatment of this dog but also in refusing to send the dog home with antibiotics after I agreed to pay
his unreasonable fees.

I would never allow any animal to be treated by this man, and I hope that this story might prevent another un-knowing person from being exposed to this practice's inexplicably uncompassionate and disrespectful demeanor and practices.
